During this week i was able to construct two layers of the raft. I used 15 water bottles per row. To hold the bottles together I used plastic bag and did a brickwork pattern of weaving. It took me about 30 minutes per row. Its difficult to work with as the bottles are light and move around alot. I hope to have this raft done in the next two weeks.

During week one of my project i have brain-stormed several ideas for the design of my raft. The most promising design utilizes 150 water bottles and 6 ten gallon water jugs. The raft will have an area for me to sit which will be 3 feet by 3 feet wide and have three layers of 50 water bottles. This will give enough support to hold my weight whilst keeping me afloat. I plan on using plastic bags to to tie the bottles together so they remain secure. I plan to have half of the raft built by the end of week two. This is the first prototype.
